Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AskQuest browser extension, backend API, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By installing the extension, creating an account (if applicable), or accessing the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Overview and Eligibility

AskQuest provides AI-assisted summarization of web content. You must be at least 13 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms; references to "you" include that organization.

2. License and Acceptable Use

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the AskQuest extension and API solely for personal or internal business use. You agree not to:

  1. Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code (except where permitted by law).
  2. Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls.
  3. Use the Service to violate any law or infringe any third-party rights.
  4. Upload malicious code, phishing content, or any material that is unlawful, harmful, or defamatory.
  5. Resell, lease, or provide the Service to third parties without our prior written consent.

We may revoke your license at any time if you violate these Terms.

3. User Content and Responsibility

You retain any rights in the content you submit (URLs, text, HTML). By submitting content, you grant AskQuest a limited license to process and store it as necessary to provide the Service. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that doing so will not violate applicable law or contractual obligations.

You are solely responsible for the content you choose to summarize; AskQuest is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or legality of third-party websites.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party providers such as OpenAI to generate summaries. Your use of the Service is subject to those providers' terms and privacy practices. AskQuest is not liable for acts or omissions of third-party providers.

5. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice. If we plan to make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" or via an in-product message.

6. Fees and Payment

The current version of AskQuest is offered without charge. If we introduce paid plans or usage-based fees in the future, we will provide advance notice and updated terms of sale. You may accept the new pricing or cease using the Service.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. Summaries may contain errors or omissions; always verify critical information before relying on it.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AskQuest and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, the limitations above apply to the extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AskQuest from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and ceasing API calls. We may suspend or terminate your access if we suspect a violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service. Upon termination, the license granted to you ends immediately, and Sections 3–11 will continue to apply.

11. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wilmington, Delaware, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

13. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be effective when posted. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, discontinue use of the Service.
